20/12/2017: Evening @ Strasbourg

Strasbourg is the capital and the largest city of the Grand Est region of France. The city is famous with Christmas market which held annually from 24 November until 24th Decemeber. Christmas market in Strasbourg is one of the oldest Christmas market in Europe and the very first in France. The first market was held in 1570. This was the main reason we visited Strasbourg~~enjoyed the Christmas atmosphere. It was the first time visited Europe during Christmas period.

After half day in Colmar, we took region train Strasbourg. The average journey time between Colmar and Strasbourg is 35 minutes. On average, there are 2 to 3 trains in a hour travelling from Colmar to Strasbourg. We reached Strasbourg at 3.10pm.


The distance between train station and the market is approximately 10 minutes walking distance. The market is at the historical area (Grande Île) of Strasbourg. Grande Île is a island and surrounded by the River III.

It only for walking visitors. How about those visitors enter the area by taking public bus?

Sound not checking for them, will it a bug for security?

Grande Île @ strasbourg was decorated with lights and Christmas trees. The information counter is after the security point. According to them, the area has 3 big Christmas markets, located at Place Broglie , Kleber Square (with the biggest Christmas tree), and Cathedral Notre Dame.The market has more than 300 stalls spread out over around 11 locations in the old town of Strasbourg.

Initially, I thought this is a church, but I cannot find in google...

I saw Santa Claus at Klebar Square.

At night, the lighting make the square very beautiful.

The shops and the streets well decorated.
